A FINE SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF BUDAI
Mid Qing Dynasty
The immortal seated on a mat, reclining against
a sack, wearing loose robes, falling open at the
front, incised with foliate designs and inset with
coral beads at the hems, a large beaded necklace
extending over his body, heightened in coloured
pigments.

The jovial figure seated holding a string of beads in
his left hand, resting on his raised left knee, wearing
voluminous loose flowing robes falling open at the
front to reveal his large protruding belly, carved
hongmu stand.
