Xuande six-character mark, Ming Dynasty
Flanked by a pair of elephant-head handles, the
body cast with archaistic designs of taotie masks,
dragons, foliate motifs and flaming pearls, on key-
fret and wave pattern grounds, the mid-section with
a Xuande six-character mark. 17.5cm (6 7/8in) high.

VESSEL, ZHI
Ming Dynasty
Of slender pear-shaped form with broad flaring
neck, cast with a slender band of archaistic mythical
beasts on a geometric pattern ground, incised
(mark, zhi) archaistic inscription to the interior, 19.3cm (7 5/8in)
high; together with an archaistic bronze wine vessel,
jue, set on three faceted flaring legs, with beast-
mask ring handle and upright posts at the lip, the
body with twin flanges on a broad band of relief-
cast taotie masks on a key-fret ground, 17th/18th
century, 19cm (7 1/2in) high. (2).

THREE BRONZE VESSELS
Comprising an archaistic bronze vase, Ming dynasty,
of baluster shape and square section, cast with
archaistic patterns around the exterior, set with a
pair of taotie handles on the sides suspending loose
rings. 22cm (8 2/3in) high; together with a smaller
bronze vase, Song/Ming dynasty, with ribs around
the exterior, 14cm (5 1/2in) high; and a bronze
tripod incense burner and cover with Buddhist lion
finial, 17th/18th century, 21.5cm (8 1/2in) high.
