8147                                                                      Chen Zhuo was originally from Beijing, but due to his long term residence
Chen Zhuo (1634-?)                                                        in the Nanjing area, he is linked with the Jinling school along with
Landscapes of the Four Seasons                                            Gong Xian (1618-1689) and Fan Qi (1616-after 1694), among others.
A set of four hanging scrolls, ink and light color on silk, each scroll   Specializing in landscapes, Chen Zhuo used a soft palette and understated
inscribed with a title, followed by two seals of the artist reading Chen  tones recalling those of his fellow Jinling school painter Ye Xin. Also
Zhuo zhiyin and Zhongli.                                                  characteristic of his paintings is the delicate brushwork and daring
69 1/2 x 22in (176.5 x 55.9cm), each scroll                               explorations of perspective, typified by the current set of four landscapes.
