After Qiu Ying (1493-1560)
Qingming Shanghe Tu, Qing dynasty
Handscroll, ink, gold and mineral pigments on silk, bearing an inscription stating that the painting
was begun in guichou (1553) and completed in yimao (1555) followed by a singature reading Qiu
Ying and two artist’s seals, with a total of nine collector’s seals, with a frontispiece.

With a yellow silk lined zitan storage box.
While numerous examples of the Qingming Shanghe tu are extant, the majority are based either
on the Song Dynasty Zhang Zeduan (12th century) version now in the Palace Museum, Beijing, or
the example currently in the Liaoning Provincial Museum ascribed to the Ming Dynasty Qiu Ying (ca
1494-1552). The present scroll is closest with those versions attributed to Qiu Ying.
