artist’s seals, with a second inscription by the artist above the painting on the mounting silk, and an
additional colophon on the mounting silk by Fu Ershi (born 1936), dated 1995.

The painting depicts a famous vista on Anhui’s Huangshan (Yellow Mountain). The tree growing
from the central rocky outcropping is thought to resemble a flower blooming from a writing brush,
hence the painting’s title “Mengbi Shenghua”.
