the lobed beaker body decorated around the central
section with large lotus borne on curling leafy stems,
the trumpet neck with bands of stiff plantain leaves and
further lotus below a key-fret band at the rim, the high
spreadung foot similarly decorated

depicting a central five-clawed dragon in gold thread
amidst bats and ruyi-shaped clouds and above a bed of
cresting waves and below a red medaillion enclosing a
three-legged cockerel, all reserved on a navy ground,
framed and glazed

‘LOTUS’ BEAKER VASE, GU
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
of hexalobed form, decorated to each side of the central
section with a large lotus bloom with curling leaves below
petal lappets, the neck and foot similarly decorated
between bands of plantain leaves and ruyi pendant,
reserved against a bright turquoise-ground, all between
a gilt mouthrim and footrim incised with geometric
scrollwork
Height 28.2 cm, 11⅛ in.
