A CARVED ROOTWOOD FIGURE OF SHOULAO
Late Qing Dynasty
The gnarled root wood section carved into a dynamic figure of the
Daoist Immortal Shoulao with a recognizable bulbous forehead, the
undulating, striated burls cleverly forming his long beard and hair, the
top root appendages forming his arms holding a large peach tree
branch. 40cm (15 7/8in) high
