TWO BRONZE INCENSE BURNERS
Comprising a small circular incense burner with three small conical feet
and an incised ‘immortal’ medallion to the base, Xuande six-character
mark in a line beneath the rim; and a larger incense burner in the
shape of a square pear-shaped vase decorated with archaistic designs
and elephant head handles at each corner edge, the cover with a
reticulated diaper band and Buddhist lion finial.

Supported on four cylindrical feet, the vessel heavily cast with A BRONZE ‘MELON FORM’ TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER AND
dish shaped rim and upright twisted rope handles, the lower body COVER
decorated with vertical ribs. 19th/20th century
11.5cm (4 1/2in) wide Cast in relief to each side of the body with a clambering squirrel, the
finial modelled as a twisted leafy branch, three of the cover lobes with

Modelled as a long-beaked bird perched on a gnarled tree stump, the
plumage acting as the cover for the censer.
