AN ENAMELED GLASS ‘LUOHAN’ SNUFF BOTTLE
1780-1830
Of flattened ovoid form, with as short waisted neck, the opaque white
body painted on one face with a luohanseated with two children
beneath a palm, with a spider dangling from a leaf above, reversed by
another luohan beckoning to a crane flying over head, the concave
foot with a four-character Qianlong mark in blue enamel.

Guyue Xuan mark, 1767-1799
Of flattened ovoid form, the waisted neck painted with a band of florets
above a scene of a scholar resting against a wutong tree reading
a book on one side, and another scholar standing beneath a tree
bearing ripe peaches on the other, the short sides painted with floral
scrolls, the concave foot bearing an iron-red Guyue xuan mark.
