AN UNUSUAL RED OVERLAY SNOWFLAKE GLASS SNUFF
BOTTLE
1750-1820
Of rounded rectangular form, the bubble suffused body overlaid with
transparent red glass carved to form an oval frame on each face, the
sides each carved with a bat between C-scrolls, and the foot ring
formed from two bosses between two C-scrolls.

A BLUE OVERLAY SNOWFLAKE GLASS ‘FLORAL’ SNUFF
BOTTLE
1780-1850
Of flattened globular shape, the shoulders rising to a short tapered
neck with a slightly concave lip, the blue overlay carved to form
camellia and begonia on one face and orchid and plum on the other,
each plant portrayed in a pot on a stand, the sides each carved with
chrysanthemums in a beaker vase and lotus in a vase, the overlay
further used to carved two chilong forming the footring, enclosing the
characters ping’an (peace) in the convex foot.
