A BRONZE VASE, FANGHU
SONG / YUAN DYNASTY
of rectangular form, the pear-shaped body rising from a splayed foot to a waisted neck and
slightly flared mouth, the four sides separated by subtly protruding vertical ridges, each
side divided into four quadrants by horizontal ridges, each quadrant enclosing archaistic
motifs including upright cicada leaves, leiwen and linked-coin motifs, the neck flanked by a
pair of tubular arrow handles with a leiwen band, the foot bordered with panels of
archaistic scrolls
