A BRONZE LOTUS-FORM BRUSHWASHER AND TWO BRONZE SPOONS
LATE MING / QING DYNASTY
comprising: a brushwasher cast in the form of a lotus leaf with furled edges and an
undulating profile, a dragon clambering on the exterior with its head resting on the interior
of the washer, the patinated bronze of a warm brown colour with traces of gilding; a bronze
spoon cast with a scoop and an elongated arched handle adorned with small nodules and
terminating with a stylised dragon’s head, the surface of a warm chocolate-brown tone; and
a shorter spoon cast with a slightly pointed scoop and a finial in the form of a stylised lotus
brushwasher: 17.3 cm., 6 3/4 in.long spoon: 14.6 cm., 5 3/4 in.short spoon: 10.3 cm., 4 in.
