            Lot 367	–	374

367 A rare boxwood netsuke of a kirin.
            Late 18th century

Seated on its haunches, howling and
raising its head with a single horn, flames
emanating from the joints and the bushy
mane well carved. The eyes and other
            details accentuated with black ink.
            Hairline cracks.
This is the classical model of a Tomotada
kirin, even if the himotôshi drilled straight
through the belly is somewhat unusual.
            Height 9.3 cm
