374 An interesting and rare polychromed cypress wood
netsuke of figure group. 18th century
The bald tall male figure with hands crossed at the
chest is reminiscent of a ghost such as Mikoshi Nyûdô,
towering above a woman wearing an obi tied at the
front therefore representing a courtesan, her hairdo
in keeping with represenation of 18th-century oiran.
Abrasion of colours and visible white gofun ground due
to age.
