Directly gifted from the artist and thence by
descent.

NOTE:

The recipient of this painting was Mr Lin
Shushen (Lim Soo Siam), courtesy name
Bohou. He was born in Gulou Village
in 1888 and died in Shantou in 1947.
After embarking on his business career in
Singapore at the age of 16, he founded the
Yongruicheng Company, and co-founded
the Wanmeicheng Company, trading
local products such as pepper, sugarcane
and rubber. Meanwhile he also managed a
shipping business, and created the Baoning
Pharmacy in Singapore. As the founder and
chairman of multiple charity associations, he
initiated several charity events offering free
medical consultation and medicines during
the Second World War.

題識：伯 矦先生法家雅教。
南使宜天馬，由來萬匹強。
浮雲連陣沒，秋草遍山長。
共說真龍種，仍殘老驌驦。
哀鳴思戰鬥，迴立向蒼蒼。
乙亥（1935年）危亡之際寫此聊抒憂
懷，悲鴻。

來源：直接得自畫家，並由家族傳承。

註：上款人為林樹森先生，字伯矦，古樓村 1415
人，生於1888年，民國三十六年（1947年）
歿於汕頭。十六歲往星洲從商，先後創有永
瑞成號，並合創萬美成號，經營胡椒、甘
密、樹膠等土產，間營輪船業，在新加坡創
保寧濟藥行。曾創辦和歷任多家慈善組織會
長，並於第二次世界大戰期間舉辦施醫、贈
藥等慈善賑災活動。
