A FAMILLE ROSE YELLOW-GROUND

PALANQUIN VASE

QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN IRON RED AND OF THE

PERIOD (1736-1795)

The raised panel on the baluster vase is inscribed with a
calligraphic poem by Qianlong reserved on a yellow ground
embellished with floral motifs in famille rose, the neck is decorated
with a pink formal band and flanked by a pair of iron-red and gilt-
decorated archaistic handles. The interior and base are covered in
turquoise enamel, and the reverse has apertures for attachment.

清乾隆  黃地粉彩開光御題詩轎瓶
                                        礬紅六字楷書款

The poem inscribed on the present palanquin vase was written by the
Qianlong Emperor in 1742, and it states that the vase was used in an
imperial palanquin. Compare to a famille rose blue-ground wall vase
from the collection of Sr Percival David, Bt., illustrated in the Illustrated
Catalogue of Qing Enamelled Wares in the Percival David Foundation of
Chinese Art: Section 2, London, 1991, Catalogue, no. A808.

由瓶上乾隆御題詩可知,此式轎瓶為御駕輕車內懸掛之觀賞
品。可參照大維德爵士舊藏的一件題同首御題詩的乾隆藍地粉
彩轎瓶,載於《Illustrated Catalogue of Qing Enamelled Wares in
the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art: Section 2》,倫敦,
1991年,圖錄A808號。
