A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF A
BIRD
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The bird is carved with its head looking ahead and the slender feet
perched under the body. The wings held close to the body are
incised with feathers and the outstretched tail is carved with a loop
on the underside. The stone is of pale celadon tone with russet
markings.

A WHITE JADE SHELL-SHAPED WASHER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Naturalistically carved as part of a scalloped shell with radial,
evenly spaced ribs with two smaller shells attached. The edge of
the well hollowed receptacle on the reverse is incised with stylised
waves. The stone is of pale tone with snowy and some light russet
inclusions.
