     A WHITE JADE CARVING OF A MYTHICAL

     BEAST

     QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

     The jade is carved in round as a mythical beast resting on its
     paws with a single horn between finely detailed mane, its face
     finely detailed with rounded eyes, curled eyebrows and a broad
     snout; its long bifurcated tail flicked to its left side. The stone
     is well-polished and of an even pale greenish-white tone with
     concentrated areas of milky mottling.
