     A BLUE AND WHITE ‘BAJIXIANG’ TRIPOD

     CENSER

     DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE

     IN A LINE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)

     The bulbous body is painted in inky-blue tones with the
     Bajixiang, ‘Eight Buddhist Emblems’, amidst scrolling lotus
     extending to the feet, below a band of ruyi-heads on the shoulder,
     the neck with a pair of bats between lotus scrolls, the rims with
     keyfret bands, reserving the reign mark in a line on the mouth
     rim. There is a row of spur marks on the body just above the base,
     the underside with an unglazed ring.
