     A FAMILLE VERTE AND IRON-RED DECORATED                                 Dishes of this type made during the Kangxi period are known as
                                                                            ‘birthday’ dishes, as they are thought to have been made in sets to
     ‘BIRTHDAY’ DISH                                                        celebrate the 60th birthday of the emperor Kangxi in 1713.

     The dish is finely decorated in the interior with Shoulao holding      紐約佳士得,2011年3月24日,拍品1730號(二之一)
     a ruyi while seated on a green and yellow mat beside a recumbent
     deer and a bundle of scrolls, his attendant to one side tending to an
     incense burner. The everted rim is painted with a border of bats in
     iron red.
