The seals are carved from a single boulder with square section 已亥重九後二日,鹿原林佶。」
rising to a sloping upper surface.The top of one is carved in low
relief, dexterously utilising the skin of the stone, with a dragon 鳳章
gazing down on its young striding amongst lingzhi, echoing the
pair of phoenix soaring amidst peonies on the other, both scenes 重量:205.1克
positioned above a signature, Cangmen.The ‘dragons’ seal is incised 尺寸:3.3 x 3.3 x 8.8 公分
on one vertical side with a seven-character stanza followed by a 印文:「御賜為國藩輔」
signature, Lin Ji, dated 11th day of the ninth month of yihai cyclical 邊款:「夕雲歛餘暉,稍稍歸鳥集。
year, corresponding to 1719, the seal face is carved in intaglio with
an eight-character inscription, Huang liuzi Heshuo Gong qinwang, 清磬林際浮,樵歌峰外急。

The ‘phoenix’ seal is similarly incised on one vertical side with a 瑤草春復生,深山共誰拾。紫微內史。」

The two carved characters, Cang men, can be identified as the carver
Dong Cangmen who was known to have been active in the Kangxi
period. Works that bear the signature of Dong Cangmen are extremely
rare. Compare to a tianhuang seal with a similarly carved signature of
Cangman in private collection is illustrated by Akashi Shunpo, Dennou
Juzanseki, Tokyo, 1995, p. 72 (fig. A).
