QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The jade is modelled as a bear standing
four-square with its head turned up to face
an eagle which is perched on its back and
is pecking its snout. The creamy celadon
stone has areas of milky mottling and
russet skin.

A PALE CELADON JADE
CARVING OF A MYTHICAL
ANIMAL AND ITS YOUNG
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The recumbent mythical animal is carved
with a broad snout and beard, with finely
detailed fur markings, and with its young
clambering onto its back. The softly
polished greenish-white stone is of an even
tone with concentrated areas of milky
white and russet.
