           A LACQUERED- AND GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF AN OFFICIAL
           Late Ming Dynasty/17th Century
           Seated and wearing long robes falling in neat folds over the body and
           arms, the fluttering hems and the bands of the sleeves each cast with
           scrolling motifs, the hands pressed together in front of the chest, the
           oval face with an angular nose and deeply chased eyes all framed
           below by a long pointed beard and two tufts of hair and above by a
           cap, the skin heavily gilt, the garments coated in thick layers of red and
           dark brown lacquer; fitted wood stand.
