A FINE YELLOW JADE TWO-PIECE
ORNAMENT
Brilliantly executed in mirrored design as a two-
piece belt ornament, the split medallion carved and
pierced on both faces with identical sinewy bodies
set with a bird and a chi-dragon head, their elegant
split tails and crests enclosed by a field of tiny
bosses and set off by indented corners, two tiny,
pierced holes at the atop for attachment, the stone
an even pale yellow throughout.
2 3/16in (5.6cm) high; 2 7/8in (7.3cm) long (2).

A WHITE JADE ELEPHANT-FORM BELT
BUCKLE
19th century
The white jade stone carved as a saddled and
caparisoned elephant supporting a flaming pearl
housed on the pillow-shaped mount, the beast
depicted with head turned back over the elegant
floral-decorated saddlecloth, the reverse with two
buttons for attachment.
