Chen Jialing was born in Hangzhou in 1937, studying figure painting          Chen Wen Hsi is a Singaporean artist known for his avant-garde painting
with the master Pan Tianshou at the Zhejiang Art Academy from 1958-          style. He was born in 1906 in Baigong, Guangdong province and
1963, and landscape painting and calligraphy with Lu Yanshao. He won         studied at the Xinhua College of Art in Shanghai, where he was taught
an award in the National Art Exhibition in 1985 for his work ‘Let Go’,       by a number of famous artists including Pan Tianshou. He left China in
and has exhibited in China, Japan and America.                               1947, and has held 38 solo exhibitions in London, Beijing, Hong Kong,
                                                                             Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.
