A CARVED JADE FIGURE OF A MONKEY AND HORSE
Qing dynasty
Depicting a playful monkey grabbing at the head of a tired recumbent
horse, its mane and the fur of the monkey accented with delicate
incised lines, the deeply undercut matrix showing a wide vein of dark
russet to black hue separating the pale straw colored knob forming
the monkey’s head from the darker straw-colored legs and belly of
the horse (chipped).

The stylized yet intricately rendered insect reticulated and incised
in stone of whorled greenish white hue mottled in icy inclusions;
fitted snugly into an unusual stand formed by gnarled branches of
attractively figured driftwood.

A CARVED JADE BELT BUCKLE
Formed of two fitted halves connected by a beast head hook and
adorned in an undercut and an intricately rendered raised relief mesh
of phoenix and lingzhi fungus motifs the reverse by circular buttons;
carved from stone whorled in striated hues of gray and black.
