A PAIR OF LACQUER DECORATED BRONZE PLATES
Meiji era
Each sloping interior decorated in muted shades of lacquer with
fan-shaped reserves of cranes, each accompanied by different
overlapping small panels featuring small birds and various types of
foliage, the gilt ‘star-patterned’ ground framed by a wide brown-hued
key-fret band, the underside of mottled dark-copper red color and
centered by a gourd-shaped mark inscribed Dai Nihon Asano-sei
(surface wear, loss of gilt to the rim).
