SQUIRRELS IN GRAPE VINES
Yongzheng marks
Each carefully potted with a wide and deep well, the exterior walls
tapering sharply inward above the tall foot and painted with squirrels
scampering among tangled grape vines, the recessed base bearing
the six-character mark in underglaze blue standard script inscribed
within a double ring.

Guangxu six-character mark and of the period
The wide well centered with a reserve depicting Shoulao and a deer
standing beneath clouds and the exterior walls showing each of the
Eight Immortals, the designs drawn on both surfaces with space for
overglaze enamel details that were never added, the recessed base
showing the mark written in standard script (hairline crack).
