A LARGE NEOLITHIC-STYLE JADE BI DISC AN ARCHAISTIC JADE ‘TIGER’ PLAQUE
The plain circular disc with a central aperture and straight cuts across Style of Western Zhou Dynasty
the edges, the mottled dark green stone with beige-tone patches. The very thin slice of jade carved with delicate lines and grooves
7 7/8in (20cm) diam. on both sides, the mythical beast with a three-prone mane behind
the ear and a horn protruding from the forehead, its snout and
$1,000 - 1,500 jaw strong, tail curled upwards, legs slightly bent, with eight short
grooves on the body to indicate tiger stripes, the translucent yellow
玉璧 stone mottled russet-brown.
3 1/2in (8.8cm) long
