TWO BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN
SNUFF BOTTLES
Jingdezhen kilns, 1800-1860
The first of straight cylindrical form with a
waisted neck, thin rounded lip, the side
walls painted with a battle scene over water,
possibly an episode from the historical novel
‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’, the slightly
inwarded foot ring enclosing an apocryphal
Yongzheng mark; the second designed with a
gently tapering cylindrical body, short waisted
neck, wide lip, the sides decorated with
numerous deer in various poses near a pine
tree in a hilly landscape, the recessed foot
painted with an additional recumbent deer
within a inwarded foot ring.

ROSE ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF
BOTTLE
Jingdezhen kilns, Yongzheng mark, 1820-
1860
The moon flask-form bottle built with a
cylindrical neck, flat lip, both main sides
painted with children holding flower branches
in their hands on raised circular panels, and
separated by conforming raised panels on
the narrow sides, painted with ribbon-tied
scrolls and a stag antler, all against a swastika
pattern-decorated ground rendered in
underglaze blue; the recessed base with the
four-character Yongzheng mark within a thin
oval foot ring.
