THREE UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND
COPPER-RED PORCELAIN SNUFF
BOTTLES
Jingdezhen kilns, 19th century
The first of cylindrical form with a waisted
neck, wide mouth, flat lip, painted to the side
walls painted with three camels approaching a
gate with an overhead sign reading ‘Erli Gou’,
the slightly inward foot ring enclosing a figure
with his arms raised in the air; the second
and third bottles each with an apocryphal
Yongzheng mark on its base, one of an
elongated ovoid form, the sides decorated
with a placid scene of geese and river, the
other of a miniature jarlet shape, painted with
court figures on horsebacks, and greeted
by a bowing man standing by the gate of a

crenellated wall with a sign reading ‘Desheng

Men’.

Late 19th/early 20th century
The first of ovoid form with a crackle green
glaze, the second of compressed tianqiuping
form with an unglazed foot rim, the body with
a tomato red glaze, the third an agate bottle,
of compressed form, with geese and reeds.
1 1/2in (4cm) height of the tallest
