METAL SNUFF BOTTLE
Japan, Tsuda family style, 20th century
The main sides with applied stone, carved
and painted over a red lacquer ground with
fictional scenes, one depicting a woman
on a buffalo, attended by three boys, the
reverse featuring two boys standing near a
large flower vase on a cart, each side with a
lacquered description matching the respective
scene, the narrow sides painted in lacquer
with nine various emblems, with eight small
pearl beads surrounding the neck; the short
foot ring enclosing an apocryphal Qianlong
mark.
