An Imperial blue and white and underglaze copper-
red ‘dragon’ moonflask, bianhu
Qianlong seal mark and of the period
The rounded flattened body vividly painted in a brilliant underglaze
copper-red on each side, featuring an Imperial front facing five-clawed
dragon chasing after flaming pearl, surrounded by scrolling lightning
clouds painted in underglaze blue and above heaped waves releasing
splashes of foam at the foot, the slender cylindrical neck flanked by
delicately curved ruyi-head handles painted with a band of classic
scroll, the base with a six-character zhuanshu seal mark.
