‘SANDUO’ HINGED BOX AND COVER
Late Qing Dynasty
With brass hinges and mounts, the
rectangular box decorated to the cover
with inset cloisonné-enamel peaches, finger
citrons, pomegranates and other fruits,
surrounded by mother-of-pearl-inlaid scrolls
of blossoming ad flowering pomegranate,
peaches and finger citrons, the front similarly
decorated, the sides and back left plain.
52.5cm (20 5/8in) wide x 28.5cm (11 1/4in)
deep x 24cm (9 1/2in) high.

A MARBLE-INSET HONGMU ‘BARREL’
STOOL
19th century
The typical barrel form supported by four
small feet and decorated in reticulation on
the wide flanks with an interlocking design
below a shaped apron with shallow-relief
decoration, the top inset with a white and red
marble circular plaque above a row of circular
bosses at the edge of the seat.

A HONGMU OCTAGONAL STOOL
Qing Dynasty
Set on slightly raised corner feet extending
from the carved ruyi-from lower tier, the
waisted mid-section with panels of lotus
sprays and scrolling foliage, within carved
baluster form pilasters at the corners, framed
above and below within bands of petal-form
lappets, later fitted cushion. 51cm (20in)
wide.
