STAGE
Late Qing Dynasty
Finely and elaborately carved with a wide balustraded platform
supporting a large central pavilion flanked by a pair of smaller
pavilions, each with delicately pierced walls and windows and sloping
roofs, detailed with numerous operatic figures on stage, all between
a pair of phoenix on gnarled trees. 150cm (59in) long.

OF BUDDHA MUCHALINDA
Burma, late 19th century
Typically clad in flowing robes embellished with green, red and
translucent paste at the hems, his head downcast in a serene
expression, the Buddha seated in padmasana with his hands in
bhumisparsa mudra, all within the embrace of snakes unusually
terminating in a single dragon head above the throne. 55cm (21
