the short cylindrical body potted with an undulating twelve-
lobed upper surface and underside, set with a short spout 詩文:瓦缶勝金玉。平圓合度棋形似,規製居然居复古
and a loop handle, inscribed to the exterior in regular script
with a five-character verse taken from the Zhu Zi’s Maxims, 能,推繹南通寧拙。吉金書。
and in seal script with a poem followed by the potter’s
name, the flat cover decorated with a swan goose below
the characters reading yan nian (longevity), the teapot base
impressed with a maker’s mark, reading Yangxian Wang
Dongshi zhi (‘made by Wang Dongshi from Yangxian’), while
the handle impressed with another Dongshi seal mark
