倫敦蘇富比2012年11月7日，編號249。另比一白玉寶
naturalistically carved with a fluted body resting on a bed of 螺，外壁淺浮雕八吉祥，舒思深伉儷雅蓄，售於香港
swirling waves, the stone of even white colour with attractive 佳士得2010年12月1日，編號2960。白色寶螺象徵佛
russet highlights
9.5 cm, 3¾ in. 法妙音遠播，多飾佛教形象，常用作藏傳佛教法器。

It is uncommon to find jade vessels modelled in the form
of conch shells. See a larger Jiaqing-period white jade
conch-shaped brushwasher from the collection of Rev
Victor Farmer, sold in our London rooms, 7th November
2012, lot 249. Compare also a large white jade conch shell,
the exterior carved in low-relief with the bajixiang, from the
Walter and Phyllis Shorenstein collection, sold at Christie’s
Hong Kong, 1st December 2010, lot 2960. Symbolic of
the far-reaching sound of the Buddha’s teachings, white
conch shells were often carved with Buddhist imagery and
employed as a Tibetan Buddhist ritual implement.
