A CARVED DING ‘LOTUS’ MALLOW-SHAPED DISH
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The dish is potted with a short foot ring and an angular profile rising to a hexafoil rim, carved
on the interior with a lotus blossom with broad leaves, covered overall with a clear bright
glaze with a slight ivory tinge. The base is largely unglazed revealing the fine white body.
