A LARGE CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON VASE,
MEIPING
EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH-15TH CENTURY
The well-potted high-shouldered body tapers to a slightly spreading
foot, and is carved with a wide band of peony scroll set between two
bands of leafy scroll, all under a glaze of soft olive-green tone.

Ehime Bunkakan, Japan, prior to 1955.
A nearly identical Longquan meiping with both similar decoration
and proportions was collected by the Qing Palace and is currently
in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing, is illustrated in
Longquan of the World: Longquan Celadon and Globalization, vol. 2,
state vessels, Beijing, 2019, pp. 160-61, no. 160.
