BEAKER VASE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH / 19TH
CENTURY
of cylindrical form, the waist with a slight bulge
carved with a pair of archaistic taotie masks, all
between incised stiff plantain leaves extending
from the slightly flared rim and foot, the base
inset with a circular plate, the stone with a
warm yellow tinge, wood and textile stand (3)
height 3⅞ in., 9.8 cm

Gifted to the art Institute of Chicago, Chicago,
