each jardinière of lobed oval section set over
six ruyi-form feet, the exterior sides built up in
base layers of ocher, below central layers of
black, and upper layers of red carved through
revealing a polychrome design, each lobe
centered with a shaped cartouche enclosing the
‘hundred antiques’ against a dense network of
scrolling lotus, a band of keyfret wrapping the
rim, the interior lacquered brown, each stand
similarly lobed and supported on six cabriole
legs set between a shaped apron above and a
conforming stretcher below, the polychrome
lacquer surface similarly carved with scrolling
lotus and geometric motifs (4)
