A very large pair of ivory carvings of a Lady
Immortal
Late Qing Dynasty/early Republic
Carved in mirror image as a slender lady with hair wound around
a pin shaped as a tasselled bird’s head, her facial features sharply
carved with arching brows and a long nose, each figure holding a
leafy peony stem in each hand, the flowers and petals finely carved
against the smooth folds of the long flowing robe, the lower hand
also holding a bamboo staff, wood stands.
Each 66.5cm (26 1/8in) high (4).
