A lobed square ‘chun’ cinnabar
lacquer box and cover
Jiaqing
The square box with lobed corners deeply carved
on the cover with a basket containing the Buddhist
Emblems including Da Ji double gourds, fans, wan
symbols and a flaming pearl, all supporting a chun
character containing a figure of Shoulao holding a
peach beneath a pine tree, the sides of the cover
and box each with a flower set amidst formal leafy
scrollwork.
