A rare complete set of carved ivory figures of the
Eighteen Luohan
18th century
Each naturalistically carved with a bald head with a stipple pattern
and wearing a draped robe, holding his respective attribute and
variously accompanied by a deer, a tiger, a dragon and a bird borne
on vapor, a Buddhist lion, a stupa and musical instruments, all seated
on rocky outcrops except one on a chair, wood stands.
The tallest 17.8cm (7in) high (18).
