                                                                      These two powerfully cast figures represent the ferocious
                                                                      attendants standing either side of the Buddhist protector
                                                                      Palden Lhamo on the sea of blood. A similar example in

                                                                      resources, no. 59850.

           comprising a figure of Shakyamuni Buddha with dedicatory
           inscriptions, Ming dynasty; a seated deity adorned in a crown
           and jewellery, Ming dynasty; and two standing deities each
           framed by a mandorla, Tang dynasty
           5.1 to 8.4 cm, 2 to 3¼ in.
