A BLUE AND WHITE COSMETIC BOX AND COVER
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN
A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
The cover of the box is decorated with a central roundel enclosing a crane
in fight amongst clouds, encircled by a scrolling foral band interspersed
with precious objects. The interior of the box base is separated into fve
compartments and the exterior is decorated with a further band of fower
scroll and precious objects.
