Christie’s is delighted to bring to the market this remarkable collection of late 19th and
early 20th century porcelain. The collection comprises over 150 pieces and was lovingly
amassed in the last 30 years, mostly acquired from renowned international auction houses
and reputable dealers. The collection is a testament to the collectors discerning taste and
passion for this very creative period in the production of porcelain in China. Part II of the
collection will be ofered in these rooms in November 2019.

A FAMILLE ROSE YELLOW-GROUND 'BATS AND SHOU' SPITTOON, ZHADOU
TONGZHI FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1861-1874)
The vessel is modelled with a globular body and short faring neck leading to an everted rim. The exterior is
decorated with gilt shou character roundels separated by iron-red bats and blue-enamelled wan symbols,
all reserved on a lemon-yellow ground.
