A BLUE AND WHITE ‘FLORAL’ DISH See Regina Krahl, John Ayers and Nurdan Erbahar, Chinese Ceramics
Kangxi in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, A Complete Catalogue,
Painted in vibrant tones of cobalt blue with magnolia and peonies III, Qing Dynasty Porcelains, London, 1986, p.1021, no.2193 and
issuing from gnarled rockwork in the center, the rim with radiating p.1025, nos.2208-2208b for a jar and cover, dish, and bowl, each
cartouches alternately depicting asters and peonies. with an ‘aster-pattern’ design. See also a dish, nearly identical to the
8 7/8in (22.5cm) diam aforementioned Topkapi example, with a border pattern of asters but
with a chrysanthemum floral scroll at the center rather than the garden
