A GREEN-ENAMELED ‘DRAGON’ DISH
KANGXI MARK AND PERIOD
the rounded sides set over a slightly tapered foot
and rising to a gently everted rim, the interior
centered with an emerald-green-enameled five-
claw dragon writhing in pursuit of a ‘flaming pearl’,
flame scrolls emanating from the powerful body, all
surrounded by a green-enameled ring at the cavetto
and another at the rim, the motif repeated on the
exterior with two dragons striding across a ground
of incised waves, the base with a six-character mark
in underglaze blue within a double circle
