A RARE AND LARGE CLOISONNE ENAMEL
SQUARE VASE, CONG
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The body of square cross section rises from a splayed foot towards
a tapered neck. Each side is brightly enamelled with alternating
scenes depicting grapes, peaches, finger citron, and pomegranate
growing from gnarled branches amongst jagged rocks and bats in
flight. The foot and neck are decorated with stylised lotus scrolls
against a turquoise ground while the borders are covered in gilt.
